Laura

Hi, I'm Laura, a Belgian-born travel writer and the founder of Laure Wanders, a blog www.laurewanders.com dedicated to cultural travel in unique, sometimes unusual, destinations. I love fully immersing myself in the places that capture my heart, sometimes spending months exploring countries in depth.

Background & Experience

As a travel blogger, I write in-depth guides and itineraries about the countries I know best. Photography is another passion of mine, and one I love weaving into my storytelling. My explorations have taken me to offbeat destinations such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Iraq, where I’ve traveled independently as a solo female—sometimes for months at a time. I’m especially drawn to places that few people think to visit—destinations where you can fully immerse yourself in the local culture, find captivating stories, seek out adventure, and learn something new.

Accomplishments

  • Featured in several newspapers and magazines worldwide
  • Writing for several reputable travel magazines
  • Over 2 years of solo explorations in South Asia

What Inspires Me

I love learning more about different cultures and traveling gives me the chance to experience them in an authentic way. What I enjoy the most is sharing stories that go beyond stereotypes—stories that show what countries are truly like, through lived experiences rather than headlines. My goal is to offer a more nuanced, human perspective of the places I visit and people I meet along the way.

Yngwie Scheerlinck

I'm Yngwie Scheerlinck, a Belgian tour leader and documentary photographer driven by a deep curiosity for the unknown. I focus on exploring lesser-known and often misunderstood destinations, bringing others along to experience them in a raw and authentic way.

Background & Experience

Rather than following typical travel routes, I quickly distanced myself from mass tourism. My early journeys took me to places like Chernobyl and Iran, shaping the way I travel today — seeking real, unfiltered experiences in destinations often overlooked or misunderstood.

As a documentary photographer, I aim to reveal the true character of places people are often warned to avoid, such as Iraq, Libya, Venezuela, Mali, and Afghanistan. My work focuses on storytelling and challenging perceptions through authentic imagery. You can see my work at:

Accomplishments

  • Documentary photographer focused on misunderstood destinations
  • Extensive travel experience across remote and challenging regions
  • Tour leader guiding travelers beyond mass tourism

What Inspires Me

I believe that places are often judged by those who have never truly experienced them. My goal is to challenge these perceptions by showing their real beauty and authenticity. Whether through photography or guiding expeditions, I aim to create meaningful and unforgettable experiences far beyond the ordinary.
